  • Updated mega home render

Here is the latest update of a large home landscape design. I could always spend tons more time. But this is about the level of quality where it makes sense for me financially. There was a time when my workstation couldn't handle working on the model like this. But with Vray and ForestPro and lots of RAM and a decent video card, this is pretty much a joy to work on now.

    My own nitpicks:
    • My backplate is not really color corrected to the render
    • I still think my renders are not 'inviting' looking and lighting is flat even though i am going for 'sunset' sun placement
    • The grass looks too fake

have a look at forest colour and vraymultisubtex (use this for any objects not in forest).

adding a few copies of the same diffuse map with slightly different hue, sat, brightness helps a lot to randomize the vegetation.

you can also use a big overall map to drive the variation of forest colour. this could be hand painted, or grab an aerial photo of a large field of grass.

I tried forest color for the first time. It's a little confusing. But using the optimise material button worked! And the trees look waaaaayyyy better. Thanks.
