Thanks marco! This is just a first pass at preview resolution, but now that I'm looking it does seem the images got resized. I've uploaded the original images - I see now the forum software for mobile does resize the images
Still tweaking materials and checking the composition. I'm using LC+BF with denoiser and some mild lens effects. I have left IM behind some time ago, with 3.5, BF and adaptive lights are the way to go. I've got a small farm with close to 100 cores, so these preview renders are done in under 5 mins each.
I am amazed with the images. Congratulations. A few comments:
- The frame of the back of the chairs (where the grid is attached) has a clear polygonal shape, is this intended like that?
- Do you use only VRay lights?
- The outside of the house, through the window, looks too much bright (intended?)
- In works like this one, do you create only still images? or also animations?
- 100 cores... 5 min... feeling jelous
- Once more, amazing work!
- You're right - I need to add some subdivisions to that chair model, it is not supposed to look faceted.
- I used IES spotlights in the ceiling, and sphere lights for the pendants. The environment is just Vray sky with portal lights at the windows.
- I haven't done any post processing, these are just straight from the buffer. I will add a background for the finals.
- Most of the time I just do stills - but I have recently done a full animation of a similar type of residential unit. I used Rebus farm for that.

Still waiting on client feedback, so I ran a 4k version to check what still needed more attention at full resolution. For example, I found the rug needed displacement so the edge wasn't a straight line. (image is at half-size because of the forum file size limits.)
i TRY TO GIVE MY OPINION:THE INTERNAL LIGHTS ARE TOO STRONG RESPECT TO THE OUTSIDE,THE COLOURS LOOKS TOO SATURATED,THE FLOORS I THINK SEEMS PLASTIC INSTEAD OF REAL WOOD ,AND NEED SOME REF/GLOSS MAP IN THE WALLS CEILING AND THE TOP OF THE KITCHEN,STEEL OF TAPS I THINK IT'S TO LOW GLOSSINESS AND MISS ANISOTROPY, THE BASEBOARD IT'S TOO HEIGHT , BUT PROBABLY IN YOUR COUNTR IT'S NORMAL, IN ITALY THE BASEBORAD ITS AROUND 7 CM,THE STOOL NEEDS MORE SUBDIVISION,I THINK THE EXTERIOR IT'S RIGHT OVERCAST BECAUSE IN REAL SHOT THE EXTERIOR LOOK EVER OVERCAST.
ALL THIS IT'S NATURALLY IMHO,AND I HOPE IT'S IN SOMEHOW HELPFUL FOR YOU.
fORGIVE MY BAD ENGLISH.
Your English is fine - your all-caps not so much I know what you mean about the colors, but the client has been pretty picky about realistic images looking too dull. This is going on a marketing page, so it needs to pop. Yeah, the hose material of the faucet didn't come out right, not sure why it ended up dark. Thanks, I see what you mean about the stool seat - that could probably use a better model since it's so prominent in the shot.
I've been having a hard time getting the wood right. I'm using a bump map, but like you say, it's coming out looking too plasticky. I don't remember having this problem with bump map before, it may be something wrong with my bitmap settings. I'll have to investigate.
Not sure I agree about the lighting balance. I typically drop my sun intensity so the sunlight isn't completely blown out in the render. If I make the contrast more realistic, then the interior ends up too dark - getting back to the client problem saying "this looks too dark" I think I underexposed my backplate though, I agree the sky looks a little too dark.
excuse for caps lock but i started with uppercase and i was to lazy for change,i later learned that i rude write with uppercase in a forum..i hope vray realtime come soon for have a real feedback in the material, for the balance i think it's rare have internal light who give a contribute higher than a sundaylight, for sure it depend on the widht of the windows and from the power of the internal lights.
i like the photografic looks ,but what I have not thought of is that not necessarily all want to reach.
detailed work, for me your last rende rwith bathroom looks overlight by artificial light, from wondow looks like sunny day, but not direct sun, so that out door light level still effects interior light level. So, just lower spot light value, and switch from no decay to squere interpolation, and maybe cone size nneds some tweeking
I personally think it is never easy to make such a render(you posted) in Blender compared to Sketchup or 3dsmax.
IMO some color variance of lights(dome light and interior light), softer shadow might make image better.
However,you did a nice job!
I am considering to dive deep into Blender and Vray for Blender. Is there any good suggestion?
Best regards.
Thanks Shiyan lin! It's getting easier and easier as I use it more Also, the developers are doing a good job getting the full feature set built up. Good thoughts about varying the light color for a little more contrast.
There are no differences if you use Vray for Blender properly...
And, Blender is an awesome software, way better than others believe me...
@andybot_cg: Very nice renders, especially detail shots, congrats by the way...
Thanks! Yes, Blender is using the current Vray builds and is incredibly stable. I read about the Max 2017 complaints and chuckle to myself how glad I am to avoid all that hassle. The major difference right now is that real-time feedback/ interactive rendering has not been implemented.

Thanks for the crit. I'm using an IES profile on the lights, so the spread is accurate, but I did increase the intensity relative to the outside. So yeah, I agree the contrast between daylight and artificial lighting could use some more refinement.
