I still can't put my finger on what's wrong with these. I mean, the client loves them, but they really are not that good. What am I missing? Some projects turn out much better than others, yet I try to use the same techniques. Something is off.

If I got really picky the only things I would do is turn off the exterior lights, put the shingle caps on the ridges of the roof and maybe reduce the size of the stone on the front by 5% or 10% and maybe slightly blur the diffuse map on that as well as it looks super sharp and then an overall very subtle blur to the image to help reduce sharp edges.

Of course they are excellent and if the client is happy then...success. It may be, as stated above, that having the exterior lights on is an indication of what is bothering you? If it is a late day scene/mood intended, with ext lights on, then sky and also maybe grass are perhaps too bright? Possible building is lit with too much contrast, could be "softer"? I don't feel qualified to critique your work so....
