  • Grass with vray & shag fur.....(test 1)

Hi!! Here is a test i am making to get realistic grass with vray and shag fur. it's a simple scene, don't worry about ground, or lighting, i did them quickly only to give an idea of an grass scene. My purpose is the grass. I still have to test different colors, to make diferent types of grass, but this is what I have by now.

It looks pretty good, but there are a lot of ways to do a realistic grass, the handicap was always the long render times. So, how long did it take for this to render?

to me the coolest grass i know is that grass plugin called grass-o-matic by the same guys who did druid tree. i think its only up to version 5 of max though

Yeah grass o matic kicks pity it is not up too Max6, this is not too bad though that color looks a tad too dark, grass blades need to be a bit more flat looking......

looks fine, the only thing missing is the small grass that grows beside the big one and is more flat and with leaves.

Its coming along well, you just need to work on the ground texture now.

Thanks, of course, the ground texture is only to give appearance. I didn't work on it. It's just a grass test.

                          Bye...

Anyone tried animating grass - I don't mean moving the grass itself, just moving a camera around.

I used VRAY displacement grass which looked fine on still images, but as soon as you move past it, it becomes very flickery. I'm sure its down to AA, but I had it said to Fixed=3 and it was just no good.

                              Any tips?
                              Kind Regards,
