da_elf, thats where I was going with that question on the version he was using. From memory there has been a few dodgy versions of 1.45.20 floating round.

He's using 1.45.20 because he admitted in the IRC chat that he's using a cracked version of Vray. He also indirectly admitted it here, but has since gone back and deleted his posts (using the edit feature) to hide his tracks.

If he is using cracked software then he shouldnt be allowed to use this forum.

actually if memory serves me right he didnt indirectly admit it here. he directly admited it here hehe. and as you pointed out all his posts were changed to ............ when everyone got on his case about it.
if he isnt then our bad... now if memory serves me right 1.45.20 had bugs when using transparent objects like glass and reflect on back side. so i would definately recommend you download the latest then re-render. looking forward to a new render with a newer version

                Hi friends

First, I used VRAY official version in the office where I worked.

In my house I used one cracked version because I can't have one copy version from this my work, OK!

In my house I don't used VRay for commercial intentions.

What's problem with this, if this not had happenning, I do not suggested from my boss buy the VRAY...

                Thanks for your attention,

                Druid®

                  Druid®:
Your 2nd render looks alot better

Admitting to using cracked software on this forum isnt really a good idea...... using cracked sofrware isnt a good idea full stop.

Its like waving a red flag infront of a bull. Dont expect to get much help around here after admit to such things. On that matter dont expect your account to work for long either

What Druid is saying brings up a great point though. Most software Licenses allows for a second installation of the software on a home computer, as long as both are not being used at the same time. Is this something that chaos allows?

This is already implimented with the new version of the server Licence.. so there is no excuse !

The new version of Vray with the license manager allows for multiple machines to use the same license as long as they aren't using it at the same time.

Even though you aren't using it for commercial intentions, its still wrong. If you don't want to pay for vray for your own personal use, you can use Vray Free or Vray Demo. Chaos does a good job of making a demo of their product available for people to play with (try getting the same out of MentalRay or RenderMan). They work hard to provide a great product to people who love using it. Telling them to their face in their forum that you don't respect their work enough to not steal it is incredibly insulting.

Though I agree with the consensus here, I was not aware of a portable license utility for vray. The floating license server yes, but never heard of a "take your work home" license. Have I missed something?

trixian, you can just use the license manager. from home just set vray to look to your office server for the license (punching pinholes through your router if necessary)

Ah. I see. Now all I got to do is pester the IT guy to open a port or two.
Is there anywhere I can look up what ports have to be opened?
