  • WIP - Office Reception Area

This is my first production render using lightmap for the secondary bounces. I'm looking for some suggestions about the render.

The light fixtures are still undecided by the client so there not in the image yet. The glass wall is sandblasted vertical stripes. The total render time was 2 hours 13 minutes.

Lightmaps are fast, but small shadow details are a problem as well as displacement on the carpet. Suggestions?

looks pretty good so far. though I dont care for the door textures. looks like snake skins, or something out of HR Giger. The door Handle needs to come up a couple of inches as well.

      Thanks percy,

The wood is figured-eucalyptus. Not my choice either. This is a lawyers office! All the desks and millwork for the entire floor will be this wood species. And there is a lot of it. Go figure!

Your right about the door knobs, they are low. Thanks

haha can't do anything about lawyers tastes. What are the dimensions to the doors anyways? They look a little tall or a little narrow, I cant tell which.

Are those Aeron chairs? If so, they don't belong in a conference room. Yes, they're very expensive, but they're designed to be fit to an individual person, so the settings will always be wrong in a conference room.

Not unless the client wants them in there.... and there Mirra chairs

Nice render TRGraphics... you do seem to be losing a lot of detail in the corners and stuff ... I find i use the lightmap to get good light and use the Imap to really bring out the detail..

sure the client could want them but that usually means the client is an idiot with waaaay too much money to blow, but won't fork out for a decent designer/architect

Thanks for all the comments. The doors are 108" tall x 36" wide. A little different than most.

The chairs are Mirra, as natty said. They were requested by the client. These are very comfortable chairs, by the way.

I agree Natty, I will do the final render with imap. Thats a shame, lightmap could have been a real time saver on large format renders.
It still helps the workflow however, much faster test renders.

Dynedain, as I said earlier, this is for lawyers!

Hi Tony, the only crit I have is that I can't really tell what the floor is covered with. If it's a soft carpet then maybe you could bevel the edges around the desk and walls. The lighing looks good for an office like this.
