percy, i think the comment earlier about it not being trendy is because the only interesting thing about the rendering is the red floor and yellow ceiling, and those just end up being distracting for something that is supposed to be place to view pictures

    and the trimwork, its "cheap"

its cool, I respect everybody's opinion. Even when they are short and hard to understand.

if you're trying to do an nice modern gallery, you should have a small reveal instead of the trimwork, in other words a small (maybee 1 inch) gap between the wall and the floor, wall and door, wall and ceiling, etc, instead of the trim board...it looks classier and is deffinately more expensive

I have to agree w/ Dynedain as far as the floor and ceiling in compare to the rest....they are way too distracting for a gallery....maybe you can maintain the same colors but the tones can be a bit muted so not to distract from the actual artwork....

          nice floor btw.....

But here is the question folks... isnt Percy trying to present a gallery design ...

I think that if his intention is to bring out the gallery than the pictures.. this rendering might be perfect for its purpose.. no???

yes the gallery IS part of the design. sure it might not be a perfect setting for viewing the paintings, but the room is supposed to be part of it. I initially said I was going for a kind of cornell look to the render.

                    HI Percy,

Nice image. The only comment I have to add is the GI on the walls between the ceiling and where the light hits the wall is a little flat. I would have expected a little more shadow in the corner where the ceiling meetins the walls. I'm not quite sure to achieve what I'm talking about though.

In terms of designing the space, I would have gotten rid of most of the doors, offset the camera position so you're not in the centre of the corridor and perhaps add a curve to one of the walls. But hey, that's just me.

thanks for the comments. yea its been commented that theres probably not enough contrast up above the lights. with regards to the space, this is part of a home design and I had to figure what to do with this narrow room. I figured a gallery was the best use of this space. Not much else I could think of to do with it.

My bad. I should have read the reast of the replies before adding my 2 cents.

By the way, have you been using 1.45.70 much? What are your thought's on Lightmaps?

I use the 1.45.70 pretty exclusively now. Haven't used lightmaps much as they dont seem to get the detailed GI I like, probably my weakness in their settings. sure seem good for test renders though.

                            nice work percy
I like the red flor and yellow celing but my comment is wooden doorframes.
I think with such nice and vivid colors wood texture is not nice or maybe wood that looks very cream color white (dont know tree's english name -sorry)

Don't know how I missed this thread earlier but man this looks great I think everything looks perfect how it is. The color combination and where you applied them looks like the only way they could be. The warm wood looks good but I guees it kinda depends on what the other rooms look like.

So is this all part of the same house with that stainless fireplace and the small movie room with DeNiro on the TV?
