Hi i like most the face. could need also some more work on some parts of the body. but very good so far. (making ralistic humans is much more difficult than making any splutter alien )
Percy I am making a buying decision on the basis of vray free. Not too sure how much vray changes the quality of an image at the moment but without th vray materals and lights it is a bit difficult to say that anything drastic is different. So in your oppinion what features does the full version have to make purchaseing it a priority for me?
I have run some tests on normal mapping and rendering in vray and have found this unsuccessfull so im already strikeing out with the renderer (I am a wannabe games artist this means i cant take my game assets and render them in vray.) any help you can be would be great.
you should try the demo. Its not the latest version but I may be wrong. I was just funnin in my thread. Im not sure about quality, I think the free version can look just as good as the advanced version, but the free version is loads slower. Ive seen some good results with normal mapping in vray so Im sure its possible.

looking good so far...but there is one thing that kinda distracts me...her hip joints to the body look kinda funny/odd.....almost as if the legs are a different part of the body and have been "attached" to it...kinda unatural.
It's almost as if she's a doll. I would say the curve from the side into the hip and leg should be more harmonious/smooth...IMO.
Well, Vray free lacks a lot of features advanced version has : translucency, displacement, VRay mats (which not only make the renders faster, but also allow using glossy reflections, fresnel, anisotropic...), Vray Lights, saving and reusing Irrad. maps, VFB, Photon Maps, Lightmaps, etc.
Of course, VRay free can show great results, but so can Max's standard rendering engine. A few years ago, CPU's were so slow that no studio considered GI production worth. My point is that the faster the rendering engine, the more time you have for tweaking and making your image look right. So isn't speed also about quality?
Thanks for the info. certainly loks like English to me much, much better than my French. The main factor I guess is the speed increase. Does it also allow rendering in passes as this is disabled in the free version.
