The old water looks much better but there is just something strange going on with it. Maybe post your material settings and we can help refine them if you would like.
im guessing it has something to do with the fact that your environment isnt reflecting properly in the water since its a screened environment map which wont cast a correct reflection.

actually looking at the last image the reflection is indeed wrong. close to the bottom of the pic its still reflecting ocean. which is wrong. it should be reflecting sky.

Hi guys,
Thanks for all the interest, here is a screen shot of the seen.
The environment reflection in the render dialogue is set to reflect just a blue colour rather than the background image which was my mistake.
I did have the refraction set in the water for a while but I removed it as it seemed to distort the reflections a bit too much for my liking but maybe i should have fiddled with the IOR a bit more.
