Personally, I have no desire to know his settings and I agree that if he chooses not to share, that is his right. No problem, competition is tough everywhere. Not just in his country.
I do have a problem with putting down other peoples work because its not like his, however. Thats what I felt he was doing. Perhaps this was a language problem, I don't know.
Also, I'm afraid he is to late worrying about someone copying the style. I've seen quite a few renders from several different people that look identical in the style of lighting and material saturation that he uses.
I wish him, the best of luck in the future. Just keep the ego in check while he's here!

I agree with Natty as moderator. We all know that it takes long hours of work to arrive at any kind of mastery in rendering. Programs have gotten faster and anyone can get feedback on their settings a lot quicker than years past. However is a slow process. Language can be a problem but we should not be so sensitive to anybody boasting about their accomplishments as long as is done with an acceptable manner.
Alkonst has shared in the past information about the Saluto method. In this thread offered even a tutorial. Many of the higher skilled members here have no use or need for that but many newcomers do.
I would like to see less talk and more show of the capabilities and skill of all users. Someone gets speed with higher quality, should be encouragement to try to surpass that.
I do greatly enjoy seeing renders and I may not be able to come close to that shown, it gives me encouragement that some day I will be able to do similar or perhaps better renders.
I really appreciate all of you.

man this poor guy is certainly being ripped apart.
i don't see the problem. finding good settings, textures and tweaks is hard work.
it's great that many people here are sharing their "secrets", but this shouldn't be taken for granted, IMO.Marc Lorenz

I agree with plastic and natty here. No-one has a right to get his settings if he doesn't want to share them.Torgeir Holm | www.netronfilm.com

True, I had a big project (thats why I havent been around in a couple of months) come up for interiors and contacted him directly, lots of nice work. Would have made him about $4K in a month, all nice work and the possibility at the time (which has now just started) of more work. I thought he would have been more keen and barely got back to me. I ended up outsourcing to 2 guys who produced good work, not as good as Alex's but the client was v happy. Whats my point? People will still get work and the world of 3D rendering is infinite. Its like whenI was in university I had no problem help mates out with certain subjects I was good at, because irrespctive of how they performed in exams I was still going to get the mark I deserved.
just my 2cent worth,
Hey Alex if you are interested in anywork PM me.
