I posted the original almost 2 years ago that I did with the then demo version. I can't remember what version it was. I reworked the lighting and some of the materials and rendered it with the latest version.
Vray has come a long way since those days and I wanted to see how it looked today. Back then we didn't have glossy reflections or DR. Man what a difference just those two things have made!!!
Oh, by the way. The 20 computer rack mount system is just out of site of the camera.
Wow. Was it that long ago? I do notice some differences - I think those Herman Miller Aeron chairs are a new edition. And I think the blueprints are different - perhaps more distant from the camera. If I remember correctly, people were praising you for your arches and the rolls of paper.
Hi Paul - Man, what a memory you have! I'm flattered that the oldtimers on this forum remember the original render so well. Thanks!
I did away with the double sided vray light that was in the center of the room. The previous render also had 25 spot lights. I dropped that number down to 10 and I'm using the new lightmtl in all the fixtures. I used all max materials in the first one, because of highlights, but I changed them all to vray for this one.
I used lightmaps for the secondary bounce. What a difference that made in render time! I'm really getting to like lightmaps!
This is the only scene I've gone back to and redone since getting the new build. I was pretty happy with the way the lightmaps turned out so I thought I would show it to some of the newer members here at the forum.
Yeah, i remember the two sided light in the middle as well.
You could rerender the "loft house" again, although i think there is hardly any room for improvement
great image! really easy to ruin an image that has alot of wood texture in it but youve succeeded nicely! Ive always wanted a fantasy computer room that looks like a military war room. meh, its just me I guess.

well you sure had me scratching my head for a second or two thinking. "hmmm the date says its a new post. but i know this image from the old forums" hehe man its god to think back. i remember one dude when vray was sub-version 1 in beta stage who did a football helmet and a microphone. the mic looked sooooooooooo real
