I bought a mini Pod the other day ..... the best buy for age's ..... cool piece of kit .. and sounds great .....OH ...and looks ok :: edit .....the Visual i mean ....
The battery runs out in 8-12 months and there is a $300.00 USD replacement fee for it. Also, MP3 players such as the Nomad by Creative Labs offers much larger space and a wider variety of files it can carry without needing proprietary software.
i know many people who have had and still got ipods without all these battery problems .....dont believe all you read ... oh and the Nomad is a direct spin off (they even do a colour range as ipod !)...... Oh and i can tune my ipod into my car stereo ..... ..... GIve me a mini pod any day.
My iPod died, and so did about everyone else's I know who bought mine around the same time. The Nomad does look similar to the iPod, but it's not a direct spinoff, especially in the case of what it supports. The Zen plugs into your car stereo, I think most MP3 players can do that now days as well.
It doesn't matter what all the other mp3 players do to try and be an Ipod they will never be as cool. Once you've held it in your hand you know you made the right purchase.
As for build quality, I droped mine on the tiled kitchen floor, it survived without even a scratch.
the only thing missing, other than headphones, are the grubby fingerprints on the chrome. i was oozing joy with mine when i pulled it out the box, until i touched it
