  • wip- exterior, noise issue?

ok folks, lots of PS needed on this image, it is strictly a WIP. I am getting bits of noise under the window sills, attached are the settings, there is a direct light (Sun) and 3 vray lights that just lighten up the recessed areas in the glass tower, subdivs on all lights is 60.

    any ideas?

any CC is always appreciated, not worried about the architecture (nothing to do with me ) just wan to get it looking good.

    Thanks,
    Tom

    Hi Tom,

I would try to increase Dist. Thres. a little, to 0.4 or 0.5 maybe.
With this you can even try to reduce Irr. map value....

    Hope it helps,

    Regards,

    T.

How strong is your direct light and environment ? Your interior 'balconys'? (excuse my english) are too dark. Try to increase the amount of light in your scene. Also what are your color mapping values ?

Sometimes i have noise like that on my geometrie, most of the time i can fix it by fitting the objects together, don't leave any space behind the thing(don't know the english word for it) under the window and your noise might just be gone.

          Thanks guys forur comments
@twinxel, yep did that and worked better
@kippu, hmm I am using 1.09 and didnt change the QMC sampler from its default,

@Erik, I tried quiet a few setting and I have a feeling that the interiors (which are modelled) are soaking up lots of the light, I was getting it burning to white,
settings are: Direct Light m=1.4, vray shadows
          Enviro=HDRI, Sacform image, m=1.3
          color mapping=Expo, DM=1.7, BM=1.0

Time was ticking on and with other views to do i opted for modifing in PS
          >don't leave any space behind the thing(don't know the english word for it) "Gap",
I know what you mean, but I didnt have any gaps there, just me settings wer too low.
anyways here is an update to it, CC very welcome,

          Thanks,
          Tom

            Hehe,

Well i am familiar with the word gap, just not the thing that should or should not leave a gap. I know the dutch word, its the thing that catches the water from the window so that it won't stain the wall. Or maybe it is called gap ?

I find that if you make the floor of the balconys white there will be more light reflecting in there (maybe you allready did that).

Maybe making your light stronger and your color mapping weaker will do the trick.

Hehe, sorry for doubting your vocabulary of the English language, I having read your post again I think you are looking for window sill, (window ledge)

so I should up the D Light and lower the DM values?

              Thanks,
              Tom

Thanks for extending my vocabulary with window sill

I don't know if you should, but you could give it a try, i am not an expert on lighting but looking at my own experience it might just work. But you should up the hdri more than the direct light, this will give more global illumination and will make everything brighter, upping your direct light will only give more power to the secondary bounce.
