mmmmm....wanst this an old topic?..i think ive saw that tower somewhere else, it was about some Bank or something, so the tower represents strenght or something like that....maybe im just nuts.
I've indeed rendered the tower before, in a different setup. The symbol is derived from a 2D watchtower logo of the employer, a credit management company.
I've used an IOR of 1.52 (average glass). You've got a good point. I'll rerender it with the IOR of crystal (2.0). Thanks for your feedback.
If you refresh this page, then you can see that I've improved the image a little:
1: Less saturation for more realism.
2: Heavier IOR for more crystal impression and less plastic appearance.
3: Slightly blurry reflections for more realism.
it's looking god, metin.....however I think it still has a plastic feel to it.....mainly because, IMO, the reflections are too blurry....more like plastic then crystal...I would make the reflections a bit more clear/crisp then it should be good.....the ligthing is great
It could also have something to do with the modeling. With crystal I would imagine that the bevels would be independent of the side smoothing. Currently it looks like you have soft plastic chamfers on the edges.
You might be right, but I guess I'll leave it this way. Non-blurry reflections made it unrealistically crisp, with too many intricate reflections. The current version is easier on the eyes.
Well, you can just call me Metin. God is a bit too much honor, thanks.

Refresh this page and you'll find a latest version with crisper reflections. I guess the main thing that gives it the plastic appearance is the brownish tint. It may remind you of cheap brownish plastic stuff from the Seventies and Eighties.
Anyway, this is really the last rerender. I'm fed up with this tower!
