  • Please help in optimizing this scene

    Hi all,
It's a test scene that I'll use with far more complex geometry when I'll have a good compromise of quality and speed.
The scene can be downloaded here:

    Here's an image:

    Thanks!

    Some precisions

I think it's pretty good overall... Just want to make sure I did not miss something that would get me faster rendering times.
What I need to do is show clearly the inside of a mechanical device from the removed bottom panel. There will be a lot of components so the illumination should be well distributed with no dark spots.
There will be around 150 objects for a total of about 3900000 faces in the scene. It will be rendered at 3200x2400.

    Thanks.

i'd get rig of that kitchen probe. it is really slowing down your rendering and I see no reason for a visualisation like this to have it there. The following image was rendered on a 1.80 Ghz machine with only the vray light qmc setting 0.85 0.003 10

      irradiance medium preset

Hi Gijs, thanks for taking the time.

You're right, I did not give some thought about the usage of a HDRi... It became an automatism with VRay.
Your render is much faster. But I like the subtle shades an image-based lighting is giving me. Maybe I should try with a few lights of different, subtle colors?

        Thanks.

Seems to be a good idea.
