it's possible to cantilever the stairs from the wall (I would use steel myself) but then your wall would show that the stairs are imbedded or there would be couplings of some sort holding the stair to the wall.
as it is the wall was built and then the stairs are placed against it. which makes them float.
To help the stairs from failing your hand rail could connect to each tread and then the stairs could hang.
