Hey guys, sorry for such a late response I've been out of town helping a friend move.

I was a little worried about the proportions and have tweaked them allot. Glad to hear she doesn't look unnatural or anything

Here's an update of what I worked on last week. I'm really happy with how she's coming along. Thanks for all the great response, she'll be rigged in no time. I'm starting to lean away from the animation for now and focus on some solid stills so I'll consider all the poses. Might have to contact Tisho privately :P

No, nothing is from poser. It's all my original creation with the support of a few friends ideas, some online photo source and a few new web sites I was directed to. From the date of her first file it looks like it's been about 2 1/2 months total but this is in my spare time and I took about three weeks off from working on her at different times during the holidays. I think I could do it in less than half that time for the next and even less time with some pressure on me. She's the first high poly model I've attempted both photorealism as well as modeling for animation with proper edgeloops and quads and stuff. Think I got the ear about right now?

Skin mapping was created with multiple techniques but I used unwrap allot. Can't quite remember when I started the skin texturing but it's primarily derived form the free hi-res images www.3d.sk gave out just before Christmas so it was probably just after that was amounted.

I've multiple versions of her clothed. She started as more of a fantasy based character but I didn't like how she was looking so I changed her after listening to that song one day. The clothing is just detached and reworked versions of her skin for the most part unlike the fantasy version which doesn't look as good.

I have some other tests of hair but I may wait till Ornatrix is fixed up with VRay so I can get a better effect.

      Hi Jon!

Your character is great. I see you made the legs a bit shorter in comparison to the body, and yes, that's the right way if she is not going to be a sci-fi character or something else like manga girl or so. The color of her underwear is better like so. The new hair style is ok. Isn't the nose a bit wider on the nostrils? I liked it more before. And the white makeup just above the eyes - shouldn't it be less obvious? All these are just my opinion and they are nothing in comparison with what you have done so far.

About VRay and Ornatrix -> http://www.ephere.com/ornatrix/index...nu=5&dest=free
      this might help.

Try to do some animations and post them. Cheers
      Best Regards,
      Tisho

Thanks, I didn't realize Marsel had updated it already.

I think she may look different because of the smile morph target. I might need to be a little more subtle in some areas. The nose is wider because of this.

I'll see what I can do about some animations but not promising anything

Very nice Trapezium! (erm, you're J_Bug right?)
Keep pushing the Characters! (especially in this Forum...)

Her Dress is great as are her Boots. Cool Materials too.
I don't think there is much to critique right now. I'm waiting for the Ornatrix Hair and maybe some Wireshots.

And good luck when you do Animation. I'd love to see this happen
PS: (What happened to your Reel? I remember this awesome Bird. You wanted to put it in there. [of cause this only matters if you ARE J_Bug... )]

            Hi Sascha
            Yes it's me J_Bug...

Sorry to hear about Griesgram not accepting you into the Graphics School. Must be very hard to get into! Your character animation was great.

I'm dealing with a similar situation myself. I've sent my demo out to a few companies in the northern California area but haven't been contacted yet so I'm refining it and adding this character work. I think I'm gona make two separate reels. One will focus on modeling and one on lighting and materials. I'll then send both to each company... hope I don't anoy them too much

I've PMed you a link to a WMV of what I sent on VHS (including the parrot). It's right around 3 min and I think about 15 MB. I'm going through and pulling out many of the clips that aren't so good and working to get it down to 1 min.

                  Thanks
When I set it up I had just gone to view Saturn through a high powered telescope, an amazing sight looking through a telescope and seeing the Saturn logo . Someone else had a lesser-powered telescope positioned at the nebula in Orion’s belt and there was a configuration of four stars in the center called a Trapezium.

I swear I'm not a Treky, I just watch it every chance I get

Here's some wire shots of her. You'll find a few triangles here and there but after reading an thread with Steven Stahlberg I decided they should work and moved on to mapping and materials.

                    Hi Jon!

If you mean that there are some triangles here and there on the hands - i think they are almost inevitable and even necessary in those areas. Your wires are excellent. Nice work.

                      Hey Tisho,
Thanks, I've done allot of modeling just never really focused on proper modeling for characters to this extent. Glad that it looks good to you

My thoughts on triangles are that they're fine in areas that can be considered hard surfaces like the skin that would lay just over bone or fingernails. Maybe even cartilage of the ear and nose. So I'll point out a few other areas that have triangles on this particular model...

One at the center jaw line
                      One above the nostril
Some in the ear but they can be combined easily
Some on the back of the jacket that can be combined also

Otherwise I've kept it all in quads. I'm not positive that the loops are exactly correct but they work fine in all my tests. I am starting to wonder if I should have given her more detail in the forehead but females are usually worried about wrinkles in that area so maybe it will make her a little more classically attractive.

I really wish I could get some of the forums beautiful ladies to comment on her from a realistic perspective

                      Thanks,
