Will ask someone to look into this and see if it can be fixed; it's quite frustrating.

        Best regards,

I'm told the issue with image attachments should be fixed now for future posts - let me know if there are still issues.

            Best regards,

The terrain is done in World Machine, then export the height map and erosion masks into maya for shading and then render with Vray displacement and aerial perspective , there's barely any photoshop here, I'm too lazy, it's all on cam, no composite used here, smoke too with maya fluids.
World machine is an awesome tool, there are more coming into the market lately, including Houdini.

Looks good, the distant landscape is super nice. If I had to say something, it'd probably be that the cliffs in the foreground look like big mountains scaled down. The version without the burning building to provide scale seems more natural. Also, be careful with the channel erosion, I knew you'd used world Machine before I read the description, because it has that distinct world-machiny channel erosion look. Not a big deal, I just see it everywhere

The fire looks a bit bright. When I imagine fire in daylight, I think of something more like this. The smoke plume would probably also extend further

Also, what's with the new links interface when posting? I can't figure out how to get inline links with it, so I have to manually write url tags

Very cool, I've already seen the animation of this someplace else, CGTalk maybe.

Thank you for the info about how the terrain was done. That looks great. I have been rendering WorldMachine terrains mainly through Vue so far and haven't been to happy with the results, but will try it next with Maya/VRay. Is the gravel/rocks also done in Worldmachine?

                        Cheers!

Thanks Razors, the gravel is just a good tiled normal map but on top of that there are hundreds of instanced rocks scattered with 3dPaintTool script .

Thanks for the info. I was wondering how you did that. Those rocks really make a huge difference, as compared to a flat Worldmachine terrain.

                            Cheers!
