  • Bathroom - unfinished

    Hi guys,

I've been trying to do some more finished renders of old jobs that never got finished off but havnt quite got vray mastered enough yet to produce anything people would say was good. Any help or suggestions to improve this image is much appreciated!

A couple of points im thinking about:

    1. lights are missing the white bulb material - use vraylight?

    2. the ceiling is too dark considering the overall lighting - what QMC settiing for secondary bounces would be good?

    3. the image took 28 hours total to render - due to the IES light?

    4. most of the materials have blurry frenzel reflections but it isnt really visible and slows the rendertimes more

    5. some settings: AA -1,1; IR -3,-2; QMC 0.5,0.002,25

BTW textures are all from the viz2005 archimat library (i wanted to test them out)

pretty nice. you should do something to soften it up slightly. like maybe some fluffy towels. or a nice soft bath matt on the floor

      light on glass

i have question how did u manage to get the light to cast onto the glass?

everytime ive tried to light glass it doesnt look like the light is on the glass like that or is that a reflection from the opposite wall not shown?

Heres a little update of this test bathroom. This image rendered in 8 hours instead of 28 with the previous test.

The only differences are there are 3 vray sphere lights spaced evenly along the bathroom just to brighten it up. Other thing I did was select all geometry and convert to poly mesh ( 187000 polygons down to 68000 polygons). I lowered the brightness of the IES lights a LOT as well as they were overbrightening the floor but not getting enough light on the ceiling.

The lighting is Irradiance map + lightmap with pretty low settings.

Id like to increase the GI quality and add more modelling details to similar jobs in the future as per your suggestions.

Prey, im not sure if this is why, but i've put a small amount (0.01 ) of fog in the glass.
