i think you have too much ambient light. i think it may look better if the ambient light was much colder (bluer) and dimmer.

i wanted darker but the client said he wanted to see more details. heck i would have just rendered a day shot if it was up to me since it would have rendered faster.

actually if you look to the side of the building on the left its actually just after sunset. so im not sure how many stars would be out

hahaha... Da_elf, when you said, "if you look on the left of the building..." i was like "what, there is no left of the building as I recall?!" but then I saw that thin stripe of sunset ... In my opinion noone can see it ever, and you (the client ) has to decide if it is a sunset shot or a night shot, because from what i see it looks like a complete night shot to me. So, I still think that more stars will be great, maybe a map of stars will be even more realistic. And packed with the improved cosy atmosphere that the lights of the house can give ya, it will look amazing. Just a suggestion...

looks nice...the stucco or whatever it is is screaming for a little texture or dirt. Something subtle will look nice. Give it a nice bump so it doesn't look like its perfectly flat.

                      Like the night scene.
For the daylight scene, I think the environmental elements (sky, bushes, grass...) and the building itself are not consistent with each other. So the image looks a bit fake.

grass hides the driveway where the car is. Maybe have it fade to dirt material in some areas and/or some bricks offset? Grass does look really nice though

Ceramic tiles would probably have some crazy specular highlights on a bright day like that.

See here where the sun hits them...

i didnt have time to work with th edisplacement map on the grass to do the pavers properly. but basically the grass is the drive way. its planted inside of hollow pavers. i didnt have much time at all on this render to get the things i wanted into it. as for the tiles i guess it all depends on how they are done. some people glaze their tiles. like the ones you showed look glazed. some are rather dull and look porus.

It's just that the surface is burnished and gives it a little shwing.
