  • This is Steve.

Finally I was able to do a personal piece again. Since I am constantly jealous of AJ Jefferies awesome characters I thought why don't I give it a try. Well it didn't work.

Steve turned out nice, The cloth over the sill is a little distracting, but other than that, nice work.

I like what you did there! I think the cloth adds something. The thing I wanted to comment on was your brass material (at the window handles). The highlights are odd. Also, it could use a brushed texture or something (maybe smudge map). The glossiness seems off.

I kind of agree about the cloth, there is something that is off that I cant put my finger on, is there an alpha on it to knock out the gaps between the threads? As for the brass handle, when you zoom in there looks to be leftovers from a sample rate render element as there is a bright blue/green highlight. As a whole those are minor and I think you did a fantastic job on this scene, great attention to detail.

Thank you all for the critic and nice words. I did a second pass on the front handle. It should be a lot better now.
About the cloth: The threads are pretty close together and have holes between them, maybe I should have went for larger ones.

The edge damage on the windowsills looks too uniform to me.
