  • Cartoony Composite

I was out taking some photos Saturday morning and came across a construction zone that had this sewer pipe and when I looked close I noticed this logo. It was just begging for an animated Piranha Plant

Here's the animation I made over the weekend and composited on Monday. How's it look? C&C appreciated.

And a few shots from the video...

        wow nice work.

I think some Super Mario Bros sound would complete the animation

Nice, Jon. It will be even more disturbing if you put a biped next to the pipe and this creatures eats him - think about it!

Hmm, maybe make it your avatar (animated ofcourse) and link a loop of the Mario theme to it, that would be super gosu :P

                      Thanks all

I was going for a combination of realistic and cartoony looking. I was happy with the lighting which was an HDRI I took there. The materials are all reflective and the bulb has a slight displacement on it. For now, the background is a still that I'm just scaling up in coordination with the camera move.
I went through a few renditions of animation and this is the final test. My roommate and I went back on Sunday and shot some good resolution/ very noisy MPEGs with my Sony DSC-V3 still camera and I'll try compositing into those as well. I'll post it when I get around to doing it, may take a while since I'll have to reanimate him.

Anyone know where I can a get a copy of the SMB soundtrack or even better just the sound efects??

SUPER GOSO Eric :P I might just do that If you look close though there is an problem with the matte ground. I didn't make it big enough and the shadows extend beyond when he swipes.

Whenever you can Sascha, I know your busy with your own I was thinking I may put this at the end if it comes out comical enough.
