  • FIREPLACE set of images

    Hi everyone,
because andybot_cg said: "LOL, you're the only activity in this subforum for a while. It has been pretty quiet in V-Ray for Blender world." under "2017 11 24 blender crashes after hit render button, during exporting scene to vray" POST - I decided to do something with this and publish these images to show, that thanks to people, that work on blender for vray code every day, I can work on this software everyday!
This quiet is my fault to, because I didn't write anything last year probably.

This is set of images done for company, that produce fireplaces.

Thanks for posting these! Looks great, I especially like how you managed the lighting on that last indoor/outdoor view.

I agree, I am also using V-Ray for Blender in production regularly, and am very glad for what the developers have achieved. Many thanks!

Really nice works, that inspires me to learn vray more further. could you show materials setup, because it has a lot of realism, and maybe can you say about lighting setup?

          Hi there,

Thank you for your opinion. I'm glad, that you like it. Of course I can share with you with some information about lightning setup (below) or materials (please pick, which material setup would you like to get?)

          Lightning setup:

1 Vray sky (Hosek et al.mode) + Vray sun with the same angle and direction as on image. Image is putting as background directly in blender.
2 Vray sky only with Ground albedo set to V: 0.3 and Color correction Saturation: -0.35 + 2 additive plane light with FFFFD7 color to warm scene with 600 and 1200 Lumens + image as background
3 HDRI image only as light (no background) + 10x IES spotlights Power: 1800
4 The same setup as No. 2 but background is added in Photoshop
5 The same setup as No. 1

All fireplaces has 2 lights, one under wood inside and second directed to room with warm 500 Lumens. Fire added in Photoshop.
All images are modified in Photoshop.

It's always important to show images done with Vray4Blender but I think it's great when someone post images with this level because it's important , for the growing of the user base, to show that we have the tools to do the daily hard job with the right quality the CG indutries requires.

What about your setup and feeling with Vray4Blender about the manage of the materials, the manage of the UVs and the textures/material viewport preview??
In my short experience with Blender , those are the main issues I've found.

I started with Blender4Vray since Blender 2.48b version, when Vray was integrated by script. There wasn't even node support. I used this combination in my job to put my renders on higher level. And Blander with Vray addition did the job well. I believed, that this was right way of my work flow. A lot of time has passed and I'm still happy, that Chaos group work very hard to make my job easier.
What can I say about materials and UV. UV work fine for me and I doesn't have any problem with this, bus I'm still using Blender 2.77. In this version I have soft box texture for area light, that works in right way. I wrote to support, but it seems, that nothing happened in this topic. Material Preview? I got used to it and that's all. I'm waiting some 10-15 s and got it. Something faster is make some test render, but this doesn't matter, I'll still use this soft.

Hello, sorry for my greediness of your knowledge, maybe I am asking too much of materials explanation, so as much as you can, would be appreciated. first i made table of first render. Click image for larger version Name:	first render materials.png Views:	1 Size:	852.7 KB ID:	976911

My materials aren't physical correct. This is not PBR or something like. I focus on final image and just make some adjustments to get right feeling - like painter artist. So material, that looks good in this scene will be not so good looking in another.

I'll post materials step by step.

Thanks for sharing these great pictures with extra info. One question. Floor material setup you have been using remap float. I have tried to duplicate these material of yours but I don't see any effect if I change parameters of Remap float.
                    Does this node actually work?

                          Thank you!
I used remap float, because it works fine for me, but as I wrote before, I'm still using Blender 2.77.1. Of course you can use gradient map.
Stugys you can write which material setup you would like, but I don't promise, that I'll got time to post it.
Below I post next material for simple metal frame.

One more thing about fire. It is added in photoshop (flame on black background) with screen mode and some curve correction.
