  • WIP Bathroom again

    Hi there..
    Another bathroom I did...
    Rendered 1600x1200.. approx. 38mins each on a dual xeon 2.8 2GB
I agree first is a little bit dark, but I only have a small window opening and don't like white for tha walls hehe..

    C&C welcome..

nice and smooth. I like it.

When I have a dark wall or floor in a scene I find rendering and saving the IR map with the dark object white and then using the saved IR map with the dark material back in the scene for the image render works well at making things brighter.

there is a problem with this technique when using interpolated glossy reflection/refractions. since they are recalculated during render time and not saved with the irradiance map then your reflections will show the lighting with the current setup and the rest of the image will use the saved irradiance map setup. for instance. have a green wall next to a white wall an a floor with slight glossies. suppose you calculate the lighting with the green wall as a white wall so that you can stop the color bleed (this was all pre saturation controls problems i faced). right. then if you reset the wall to green and reuse the irradiance map then the white wall is kept nice and white. however. the floor will show a different matter, it will show the white wall being tinted green since the lighting for the wall as reflected by the floor when using interpolated glossies is calculated seperate of the saved irradiance map

Wow, that is great design ... and excellent rendering ... I like the natural darkness and contrast, very convincing!! Perhaps a little structure in the brown paint, and maybe even the smallest amount of glossy reflection?

It's almost a shame to put the 3 containers in - I think it needs to stay as minimalistic as possible. Water in the tub instead?

          Very inspiring, thanks!
          Cheers,

          /Thomas
