sweeeeeeeeet. i forgot to ask. what are you using for the reflections? an HDRI? a normal bitmap? and out of curiosity. i know you cant render out an HDRI from dreamscape skys from what ive been told but would a dreamscape sky still act as an hdri during the render process? like in reflections?

i dont understand the type of modelling you are doing inorder to create that model so fast?

Prey, not sure of his methods, but poly modeling works extremly fast in certian situations. Its even faster in other modeling apps other than max, that have better poly modeling tools. specifianlly with smart slicing, and selections.
BTW: looks great!

prey1979:
this is one really fast and simple method
1. 2D Spline for the whole floorplan
2. Extrude and Adjust heights
3. Turn to Poly, select all faces, Apply Inset Polygons
4. With the polygons still selected apply Extrude
5. Apply Multi/Sub material, adjust material IDs
6. Inset and Extrude for the top row
7. Change material ID for the glass

Yep, that's pretty much what I did, The reflections are a hdri map on a 1/2 sphere, I used the max hdri loader so that it's easier to control the rotation and tiling, it is not visible to GI. Lighting is with the same hdri but using the vrayhdri loader in the environment overide, I added a large spherical vray light around the whole scene (two sided, scene is inside the light )after the imap calc to brighten up and add definition to the framework. The hdri is a a sky created from dreamscape compiled from several different exposures. I do not know if a dreamscape sky will deliver hdr output on it's own, maybe.

Wow thats really cool. I especially like the second image cause it's more detailed and sharper edges. Nice glow too.
