  • Clouds RnD

I have to create a scene where the camera is flying through the clouds. So I made this setup to easily generate clouds from a very simple geometry.
Currently it takes 1-2 hours to simulate 550 million voxel grid to the cloud shape. In this scene the one grid has top and bottom thin boxes and 4 cylinders creating the pillars connecting them.

Just a wip project, but wanted to share it for inspiration or maybe some one have good ideas to make it better.

Well, why not. But it's still early one day test. Hopefully having a lot better looking scene during the next week.

            Hi
            Lasse,
your Clouds are looking great. Could you explain a little bit more the technic you are using for that, please ?

Here is the file I used for those clouds. Max 2018

If I remember right, first 40-50 frames were simulated with just about 20 milj. voxels, to get the basic shape. Then I used restore and set the grid to almost 600 milj. voxels and continued the simulation until I had enough details.
