  • Small Cafe WIP = update completed

This image is for a furniture company that sells the planter and tables in the image. It's still needs the little details, lights, switches, glossy reflections on the floor, etc. But I thought I would post it to get your thoughts on the lighting. I'm using lightmaps in the secondary.

That looks good Tony. It is hard to tell what is open and what is closed regarding the glazing though. Is the intent to show the integration of indoor/outdoor?

Yes it is Fran. They want to show their products in a wide variety of locations.

Good point about the glass. I will increase the reflections and add a slight tint to the glass to make it more visible.

Really love the materials. Tables and chairs look just right. How did you go about creating material for the umbrellas outside?

Thanks Da_elf. I know the flowers your talking about that are 3d, I have them to but they take a lot of time to render and I was happy with the comp so I went with that. The scene rendered in 20 minutes. The plants are from got3d and at a fairly good price for 52 different types of flowers.

Thanks Jon. The material for the umbrella is a vray material with a tan color in the diffuse slot and refraction set to 10 and fog color a very light tan set at .05. The same for the canopy except I used a gradient ramp in the diffuse slot and effect shadows clicked on both. I used simcloth to do the umbrella canopy.

I used gamma correction on the scene so the original lighting is quite low in the scene. It really makes a difference in the render time.

Thanks Tony, I like the way that the canopy looks too. It's great that the material looks correct for both. Is the slight orange tint to the canopy from the refraction or is that bounce from the exterior wall? Looks perfect.

It's from the refraction. The outside wall is white as well.

i would switch off the 2 lamps inside, and i would scale them down too.
try to make the atmosphere(sunlight) a little bit warmer!
