Hey Guys, this building is 100% made up and for no client just because I was bored and like aluminium panels. I've seen better panels previously but really i'm still a beginner with material settings. I know my shadow areas are too dark and the 2D stickons are tacky but does anyone else have any practical suggestions (or architectural opinions) on what else I can do?

the building is basically a collage of ideas i've seen in magazines etc and borders on meaningless wank but it was fun !!!

for the dark recesses, ive tried increasing the secondary QMC bounces to 4 with 6 subdivs but its still very dark. What would be the best way to improve this while keeping the rest of the image the same?

paulison- I expected to see an island that looks like the head of Dr. Evil....
I think your panels look pretty good. Especially under the overhang on the left. Over all it may be refelcting too much blue from the environment.
How did you make your panels? Are the panel joints modeled or is it a map?

I don't think the areas in shadow are too dark but I do think there isn't enough contrast between the sunlit areas and the shadows.

It looks like you're using color mapping other than linear. If you are already using linear then I would try increasing the multipliers for both the environment and the sun.

ps. Where did you get the Porsche?

            nice work
the panels look good but your glass material is weird and makes the openings difficult to read

              thanks for comments!

Bbullo: all of the panels are modelled but i didnt put a metal strip down the middles so you see through to the wall underneath which just has a creme render on it (looks a bit weird). On the curved element, I modelled this properly though but i sort of ran out of free time

Percy: ahah i was thinking of putting a guard tower or something in the background on the left side. I should really have put more people in white suits and women in bakini's around the place and sharks in the pool. I was kind of going for the whole overdone maximalist styling seen in 007 movies. That would make for a good architectural competition i think.

i was trying to do black glass but I think maybee its not transparent enough so it looks a bit weird

i used linear colormapping but the render came out very dark so i had to brighten it up afterwards so it probably lost a bit of the contrast. Its hard though using linear without bleaching out the stonework. I'll try this with the new colourapping in vray .13 soon

the porsche is from an ArchiCAD library which looks fine from that distance. was free for me so its all good

ive done some more images which probably just highlight more flaws so i wont post them :P

Glad you guys liked the design though, Its good for a break from merely rendering other peoples ideas. Havnt done any design for about 5 years now so I had a lot of fun doing this even though im not 100% happy with the result.
