  • Personal Project "Harmless Housebats"

Made some time to do a personal project called "Harmless Housebats". I've always done products and studio lighting type stuff so this was really outside my comfort zone. Very therapeutic as well.

Thanks man! The facebook "line" and debris is with forest pack.

If you want to take a crack at an interpretation, there's a pretty deep story going on. Each object and its placement has a very specific meaning and connection with the other objects

I was looking at that earlier! Honestly that may be one of the best snow shaders I've seen so far. Is that only for corona? Or do you ahve that for Vray too?

                  Great job man

very crafty and creative work you have done. The message is, "Facebook is like a drug, Clicking on it triggers a "need more" domino effect. If you get away from it and go outside you will see no evil, hear no evil" ?

I would be keen on your future snow shader for vray as well. please add me to any list for notifying when available. Thank you!

Thanks man. The whole scene is about an imbalance of chaos and order. You can see the art piece on the wall with more black than white (more chaos than order) In this case it is someone that is so engulfed in their own chaos that they convince themselves that they can change the world from inside their house. The batman mask, dusty and unused for a while, represents a figure that goes out into the world and makes an effort to change, and not staying inside yelling at the world to change. The yellow card about yelling out the window, you can see the shadow on the wall of the person actually doing it that. The "click click click" starts forming a snake that you can see in the background, which ironically is what will be your demise (sneaking up behind the person at the window). The "8 ball "is not paying attention (ear muffs and whistling), oblivious that it has one last chance like in billiards (also that play on yin yang inbalance of black overpowering white too). The clean toy car ontop of the "to do" pile, meaning not growing up. Batman mask looking at the qualities that bring you out of chaos. On shelf: Atlas: Responsibility, carrying the weight of the world on your shoulders and walking it forward. Pyramid with eye of Ra: elected up in society with competence and paying attention. Binoculars: exploring the unknown and telling others about it. Chessboard: playing fair over an iteration of games, morality, planning ahead. Jar of eyes: remembering and learning from past mistakes. And finally the key next to the jar, that opens the lock trapping you in time (under the 8-ball). The whole thing with batman is that he symbolizes going out into the world and effecting change, and also without taking credit. He is also a dangerous character in the sense that he is capable of effecting change. A "harmless housebat" is really about just that, a person engulfed in his or her own chaos and not able to affect change in the world. It is also dusty from not being touched, and the snake forms under its nose.
