  • MAX 2019 OSL play for fun

    Hi guys,
here is a result of my todays test of plugging OSL 3D Noise into Vray Displacement in vector mode and got pretty neat results i would like to share.
Really excited about the OSL stuff in new MAX!!!
I also used curvature map for the diffuse channel to emphasise some displaced features.
I am planning to perfect this even further when i have time as a part of fun project
    Cheers
    M

    Looks pretty cool already

I've had some play with the new advanced wood material. But either it's just me or it's really slow at rendertime.

Were rendertimes decent in your case?

      Hey!
yes it rendered quite slow, but i dont know if it was because of the curvature map or the OSL combined with Bercon. I will have to find out.
The advanced Wood looks quite promising though! I havent tested the speed yet there.

I am currently trying to use curvature map but it slows down the rendering a lot.. disappointing as it that makes it unusable for my animation. probably its the case here too.

You might be able to bake curvature into vertex colors using MCG.
