Any tips or wise words on these for me please?

Viewpoints chosen by the architects, bar the low level street view looking at the stone frontage as I think it works better.

How do you all get a specific brick material? The texture I've used here is as close as I had in stock, but it's not quite right, and it tiles so any tips on this would be great.

It is looking good. Check out Acme Bricks (https://brick.com/innovative-online-tools).

If you had brick & stone reference like this to match, how would you go about creating it in 3d?

Find a good pair of texture maps?
      Model to the stone?
      Walls & Tiles?

I had to do some brick work that needed to be close to the original reference. I separated the stone/brick of the tower via modeling/geometry. Then use BerconTile for the brick & grout size, and MultiTexture in the color slot to get the right color variation in brick to apply to the brick parts of the building. Your reference has some really dark brick so if there's issue using a single color in MultiTexture and adjusting the random gamma & distribution - you might take that ref image and crop out some of the colors to be swatches to load as bitmaps in MultiTexture, and then apply just a subtle gamma randomization.

In the end I had a Composite map with the MultiTexture at the bottom, and a few textures on top to add texture. And riff of this texture to make a displacement material to push the grout in, if you'll be getting close up renderings.

Walls and Tiles by VIZPARK is also a good solution for brick.

              Thanks guys.

Vispark have a free texture which isn't a bad match for the brick, so I've put that on. We'll see if the client thinks it's close enough. Now I need to find a better match for the stone.

Any tips of a nicer tiled roof texture? Where to look etc.

This is ArchiCAD geometry too, and adding displacement to it creates a very wacky result! With the mesh splitting all over the place. Not sure what to do there.

The new omnitiles standalone might be a solution for custom stone textures. Been using it for regular tiling recently but you can draw your own shapes so maybe thats worth a go.

Textures.com has a similar stone texture in their 3dscans section.

is that a Yorkstone? I ve been in 3D long time but to make a really good looking yorkstone has always been a challenge, especially for details.

I always insist on brick specific info, either manufacturer or photos. With current realism in arch viz, the appearance of the bricks is essential.

Until recently I have been using max to flat render bricks with help of Multitexture and pictures of at least 100 unique bricks and Pixplant to generate normal and refl/gloss maps.

But since the arrival of Omnitiles Standalone (Vizpark) life is a lot easier. It's still in beta and crashprone, but even then it is still worth it. Hope they iron out the bugs soon.

                      Yes, I believe so.

This is the specific brick info:
                      https://crest-bst.co.uk/products/view/old-saxon-blend

But I'm not sure how to get a good material out of that. So I was just using it as a guide.

Omnitiles looks interesting. I guess I'd feed in individual stone or brick images in to create your own multitexture.

That is plenty of brick to start with. Here is an old recording, but it'll give you an idea.

I have been using W&T for a while but it made MAX really unstable. Once removed all problems were solved. Any improvements in the last year? With Omntitles Standalone it doesn't interfere.
