  • License via openVPN and nothing more

    Hello,
I would like to grant a freelancer who is not on location access to my Vray license through Hamachi or OpenVPN for 2-3 days.

Can I limit Hamachi or OpenVPN access to a single local IP of the license server and port 30304 so that the freelancer can't see the other computers on my network and can't download files from the file server?

Second question (a solution without Hamachi or Open VPN),
if I grant access to my license through port-forwarding in my router, can someone read or reprogram or damage my Vray dongle through this way?
Can anyone use the access to my license server trough the 30304-Port to compromise my network as a whole?

    Kind regards
    Alex

Best is to contact Chaos support and see what they can offer.
I've heard that sharing your license with this kind of way is not legal with Vray, but I'm not sure.

I don't see how this would be possible - the license server itself cannot reprogram the dongle (you need a .rtu file and the update is performed by the dongle drivers).

I'm not aware of ways to do that, if only port 30304 is open.

With that said, granting access to machines in your network to outside people always carries some level of risk.

If you have more questions, it would be best to email us at support@chaosgroup.com and see if our support team has any advice.
