  • 2080 Ti Brand Recomendations - That only occupy 2-Slots

Hi Everyone, so I finally decided a few days ago to begin the financially painful GPU upgrading process of my aging Titan Blacks, and pulled the trigger on a single Zotac 2080 Ti Blower style GPU with plans to get a second later.

The thing ran poorly for about 2-1/2 days and then my workstation suddenly would not get past post yesterday... it turned out that the fan in the new GPU died and who knows what else might have been wrong with it since it was not performing as well as others 2080 Ti tests on the web were showing.

So I'm having it picked up and sent back tomorrow for a refund. Never buy directly from a manufacturer, I've learned my lesson, big RMA hassle and terrible customer service considering how recently I'd purchased their defective hot-plate, they made sure to let me know that they were jumping through hoops for me sending an air-bill pickup.

Had to threw one of the Titans back in to get running again. Can anyone recommend a 2080 Ti that has been reliable for you but that only takes up 2 Slots?

I have a Z840 that will take three dual-slot cards but I had one card on the top slot and one on the lower most slot to give them good ventilation and wish to replicate this setup as that bottom slot has zero clearance for a card wider than two.

These Titans have served me well and I care primarily about stability, I saw that many 2080 Ti are having problems but all the conversations revolve around gaming and could find no one discussing rendering stability.

Thank you in advance for any guidance finding reliable twin-stars, so hyped for when RTX support gets released for V-Ray!

squintnic Thanks for the link. Have you been using that Asus for a while, is it working well for you?

I also found this Gigabyte one (https://www.gigabyte.com/Graphics-Ca...TTURBO-11GC#kf) but no reviews for it but even so almost all of the 2080 Ti reviews I have found are gaming related.

I think this style of fan is the way to go for my case but the 2080 reliability issues and my recent failure has me worried... I read several posts of people have 2-4 cards failing

I wish I could get two new RTX Titans but the pricing just bananas and not sure the rendering performance would be that much greater than the 2080 Ti?

The Asus Turbo has been alright here for 2 weeks so far, using 4 of them, it is the only 2 slots/blower style card that ships here.. Gigabyte cards didn't arrive here yet
and I still have few Asus 1080ti turbo from 2017, never had issues with them

Muhammed_Hamed & squintnicThank you for your help! That's great news I think I will end up going with the Asus.

I was also thinking of this GPU from Gigabyte it has a slightly faster clock speed, would that translate to rendering at all, it's a very small difference so I'm guessing not?

            should be fine
I would personally stick to the Asus Turbo cards, I have been with them for years without issues and it is what most people use in the GPU community

Muhammed_Hamed I`ll looking to get Asus or Gigabyte blower my self too, and wonder if Gigabyte might have a bit better airflow. Seems like the end of card is slightly cuted at and angle allowing air to flow better into the fan intake. That could make quite a difference when 2-3 cards are stacked.

Gigabyte have actually 2 blower cards, Turbo and Aorus. Turbo have stock/regular clock, and Aorus have higher clock.

I don't think the cut at the end will make any difference, The Asus card feels more premium, and it is what I have used in the past with 1080tis
shouldn't matter much though, they all should work

stacking 4 cards you will need very good ariflow in your case, and AC in your room
2 cards with space between should be more forgiving
