So my first ASUS Turbo 2080 Ti is arriving tomorrow, which I ordered based on the kind advice I received from the awesome people in this post: https://forums.chaosgroup.com/forum/...occupy-2-slots
I had originally planned on having two 2080 Ti, but based on Muhammed_Hamed awesome quad setup, now I'm dreaming of eventually adding three 2080 Ti.
The thing is, I cannot find anyone online that has installed three 2080 Ti in their Z840.
I have the 1125W PSU in my Z840 but it only has (3) three 6-pin PCIE power connectors... I ordered 6-pin female to dual 8-pin male adapters but I'm kind of scared to connect a single 6-pin supply to the ASUS to test it out. Since I have no idea what the effect might be if the GPU draws more power than the single 6-pin line can supply, I imagine electrical fires and possibly portals spewing out monsters ala Half-Life?
This is a very popular and widespread workstation so hopefully someone in our great community might have at least attempted it or know if it's possible?
My two Titan blacks each had one dedicated 6-pin supply adapted to 8-pin and the third 6-pin supply I had split between the two with a 6-pin to dual 6-pin adapter and they ran flawlessly for years.
TL;DR: Has anyone successfully installed three 2080 Ti in a Z840, and if so how were they wired up for power?
Thank you in advance for any guidance and/or perspective you can provide.
