  • Wich 4-Slot NVlink can be used the MSI GeForce RTX 2080ti GAMING X TRIO?

    Hi,

maybe someone know a solution for this card. MSI sells 3-slot bridges only?

Or would a 3-Slot Bridge work well too? Is the space enough between the cards for a solid cooling?

For this massive card, you have to use the 4-slot NVlink and you will still need very good airflow in your case.
the 3-slot bridge will choke your cards and they will throttle like crazy
they will throttle less with the 4-slot bridge as well, and depending on your airflow and if you have AC in your room

Interesting is that MSI sells 3-Slot-Bridges only, but I got the hint to use the Zotac 4-Slot-Bridge. I got it today, it perfect match, but it doesn't seems to work like expected.

I try to setup 2x2080ti and 1x1080ti. I have a DualXeon with a Z9PE-D8 WS mainboard. At PCIe slot 6 is the 1080ti placed (per extension cable), at slot 3 and 7 the 2080ti. The monitor is connected to the 2080ti at slot 3.

My idea is to use the linked 2080ti for the monitor. So, I hope to get the full 11GB of the 1080ti for V-Ray rendering without to lost any memory for system and other programs. And if I use all three cards for rendering than the smallest card is the limit and the limit could be the 11GB of the 1080ti. The rest of the 22GB could be used for system and other.

I enabled SLI and run a NVlink test - anything is fine. But if I start a rendering, also only at the 2x2080ti only, than it stops to render at nearly 10GB.

Also at GPU-Z it looks like 11GB are the max available memory at the linked 2080ti.

Is there a problem with my setup? And an other question - could I remove PhysX from my machine or is it needed? I don't play games.

It will not show combined VRAM, this is only in Vray.. It should be able to use NVlink if you have SLI enabled
what about the log, where it says querying NVlink. Does it recongnize your NVlinked cards?
I think you should make a separate thread on this and upload example scene to support. Other people are able to use combined VRAM with NVlink for long time.

I afraid the combined VRAM isn't working for V-Ray for Rhino. I can render a complex scene at 10GB VRAM and open Photoshop (CS4) in the background and open a few large images until 11GB VRAM ... V-Ray crashs. OK, NVlink is detected by V-Ray, but it doesn't work like I expect it here.
