New Station rendering

Hello I ask myself the question for a new station (C4d vray)

- Socket 2066 (i9-7940X _ ASUS PRIME X299-DELUXE II, ASUS X299 Sage, Gigabyte X299-WU8, ASUS PRIME X299 Edition 30)??
or - Socket 2011-3 (2 x Xeon E5-2630 v4 _ bixeon ASUS Z10PE-D8 WS)??
or - Socket sTRx4 (Threadripper 3960X _ ASUS PRIME TRX40-PRO, Gigabyte TRX40 AORUS MASTER) ???

I do not know which version to go to ???

Avoid the dual Xeon, those CPU are old and slow.

I was wondering about bi-xeon because I always had that

so I'm going to focus on:


- Socket 2066 i9-7940X / 7960x
or - Socket sTRx4 Threadripper 3960X
or - Socket sTR4 Threadripper 2990X

The i9 7940/60 are old models, the new generation is faster, have more core and it's cheaper too: https://ark.intel.com/content/www/us...-3-00-ghz.html , likely it will be better for editing comapred to AMD and still pretty decent for rendering.
Both 3960x and 2990x are better for render tasks, the 3960 will be better for editing compared to 2990.
To get decent performance from a modern dual Xeon system you will need to spend a lot more(A LOT), Intel now produce a specific line for workstation usage(W 2000/3000 series) but is single CPU only.
