  • Windows 10 error during boot time if more than one graphic card is installed

    Hi,

since a few years my dual xeon e5-2687W with a 1080ti was working for CPU rendering. But since I started to use GPU rendering and added two 2080ti I got problems to boot. If Windows starts to boot than I get After a few crashes I get the system started most. Today I try to boot with the 1080ti only and it was without problems possible. Doe's someone have an idea how I could get the system stable?
(It's my backup system which is needed because my main computer Aorus x399 xtreme motherboard burned through with some smoke.)

By a fortunate coincidence I spend some more thoughts about the power cable of the graphic cards. In the past I used one cable for the two large connectors of the 2080ti and a second cable for the small connector. Now I used one cable for each big connector and one of the cables is also connected to the small connectors. And now the system is stable starting.

I don't know why I got the boot issues since no high power is needed at boot time and if it has booted than full GPU render power was available. But the new cable management seams to help.

Above 4G encoding in Bios could help with the boot issues as well
And yeah for the 8-power you really need native 8-pin cables .. it cannot be through splitters or similar
There might be PCIe power on the board itself, make sure it is connected.. usually it is 4-pin or 6-pin

Muhammed_Hamed I got a message from the shop where I bought the Aorus x399 xtreme, that I will get my money back, they can't replace the motherboard. What do you think, which one could be direct used for my current components (at the tabel below). The last time I used if for GPU rendering per 1x1080ti and 2x2080ti. In the future I could imagine that I add more GPU power per extension cables.
I hope the complete installation at the M2 disk will work. Which MB would you choose? I would be glad if you find some time for a hint.

          Micha Hello
ASrock boards are great, these 2 you mentioned are identical.. the fatality has 10 Gbit, but other than that they are identical
Why did you return the Aorus board?

Never I have seen this before - a preeezle noise, smoke and smell like burned plastic. Something is burned behind the logo at the circuit board.

I think I will take the Taichi board. Only I wonder someone at the Amazon reviews wrote: "For the price I would have expected it to be nicer. Most importantly the bottom PCI slot doesn't even fit a GT 1030, nevermind a 1080TI which is what most people buying the mobo will have as GPUs. Disappointing. ...". At an other place I found that someone used the Taichi for a 4 GPU (1080ti) setup, so there was no problem.
