  • New build, looking for cooling advice for 3970x and PSU

    HI,
I need to get parts ordered asap and need a bit of advice on cooling a 3970x for my new workstation, no real preference over AIO or air, just want someting that will work well and will fit when all ram modules are used.
Have a corsair H100i in my old build - couldn't fault it, but not sure if the new models are as good as the older ones, also I hear Noctua are excellent for air cooling,
is there anything i should be aware of,
also any advice on the PSU, (graphic card for now will be my current 1080ti)
    thanks
    T

Just go with a Noctua NH-U14S TR4-SP3 an second fan. I have it and it is reliable and quiet.

Get a Corsair AX1600i if you plan for two rtx 3090 or the Corsair Professional Series HX1200i for one rtx 3090.

Have the same setup as bildform suggested, Corsair 1500 W, 3970X + Noctua NH-u 14S TR4-SP3 with second fan and a RTX 3090. It`s a quite setup and cpu temps don`t go over 70° max. but with precision boost disabled. Once i activate it, temps go easily to 90° and above, so therefore you would propably need a water cooling system.
If you are fine with the default 3700 Mhz, thats the setup to go for.

Has anyone experience of Raid 1 for storage disks with AMD, should i use their raidexpert2 or just do mirroring in win10 disk managment?
last build was on an intel chipset and i used Intel RST for the arrays, worked great,
