  • Any recommendations for the latest 27 to 32 inch monitors?

    Hi Guys

I'm due for an upgrade. What's a nice newish monitor 27 to 32 inch, 2K to 4K? ^Lele^ mentioned a 55 inch LG Oled TV a while back and the spec of that sounds pretty awesome, however 55 inch is way too big for me.

Although I havent needed a 10bit HDR screen, it may just be one of those where you dont know you need it untill you used one!

95+% sRGB preferred, 100% sRGB ideal.

Also preferably something from at least 2019 or so onwards.

So I guess its the usual suspects, Dell, BenQ. What's on offer from LG and Asus?
    Kind Regards,
    Morne

Ive got two of these...so can probably suggest the newer model would be a good bet. Very affordable also if you need two. I use a Spyder X pro to keep the calibrated and Ive been very happy with these for the last few years.

For 27k euros, you can get an 88" 8k oled panel.
      The utter bargain.

Jokes aside, they also have 48".
Notice though that the 55" is essentially four 27" 1080p monitors.
At arm's lenght, it looks just like those, for pixel density and clarity.
I have it mounted on the wall, it's as wide as my tiny desk, and has 0 footprint on it.
I shall admit to having to look up for the top corners, but that's because i decided to mount it a bit higher (i also sim-drive with it. It had to meet those needs too.) than most sensible people would have.

Consider the answer a generic "no".
However, some tech (f.e. OLED) can match (and well surpass) monitor grade.
You'll want something you can calibrate, as well, and if it isn't mentioned, it's likely not possible.
Watch out for cheap stuff, as you're liable to get thrash for the stuff you'd need it for.

The LG 48" A1 range that came out this year seems interesting LG OLED48A1RLA. Are they any good? I got stuck on the bit where they mention that ALL OLED screens suffer from potential image burn in, that is in the A, B and C ranges.

            Kind Regards,

I had read that too, but in 2 years of using it, i see no trace of it whatsoever.
The thing is bright enough that you won't ever need to set it to 100%, and you're unlikely to stay with white, over-bright elements stuck on the screen for days to no end.
It also has a pixel refresher system which engages when it reputes it's needed. In my case, it kicked in around once a year or so, but to cure nothing i could see.
I may have just been lucky, though. I can't make a promise.

Now its just a question if the 48" A1 RANGE has similar display as your 55" B9

Does this one look usable in our field? (google translation page so give it a sec or three to load the translation)

Hmmm it doesnt have an audio out for earphones, bummer (so actually using it as a tv also, wont work as I need earphones)

I got the OLED55B9PLA, but at nearly half the current, eye-watering, price.
All i can say is that i am exceptionally happy with it, but beyond that, i'd rather not venture.
In general, for LG, the letter marking the series is an indication of quality: A being the cheaper.

Coming from 24" Dell U2412, I'm leaning towards this one:

So Morne, what did you end up getting? My old Necs are starting to show their age...
                      Thanks!

Just want to remind everyone reading this thread in the future as well that running 4K in Max is going to slow things down in the viewport quite noticeably if you're used to running HD or 2K. I have a RTX2080Ti on 3 x 2K monitors. And a RTX3090Ti on 3 x 4K monitors. And I enjoy working on the 2K monitors a lot more due to the performance in viewports. When I bought the 4K monitors I didn't think of that, and now I wish I thought of that before. So might want to take that into account as well.

I'm quite happy with Dell Ultrasharps though (27 inch).

I have two Dell U2718Q since 2 years and I'm pretty happy with them. I just bought a U2720Q that should arrive in a few days.
