Hi all,
I m looking to build a new desktop and I d like to hear your opinion on CPU and graphics card options, if possible please. I am looking a balanced solution between modelng and rendering tasks in 3d max with Vray.
So a potential set up has as follows:
CPU Option 1: AMD Ryzen 5950X 16-core 3.4Ghz
CPU Option 2: Core i9 12900KF 16 core 3.4Ghz
CPU Option 3: Threadripper 3960x 24-core 3.8 Ghz
Memory: 4x16GB ECC UB PC3200 DDR4 RAM (64GB in total)
OS Drive: M.2 1TB NVMe SSD
Data Drive: 2.5" 1.92TB SSD
Graphics Card Option 1: Nvidia RTX 3090
Graphics Card Option 2: RTX A4000
Graphics Card option 3: RTX A5000
In regards to the memory is it worth upgrading to 128GB? This would be an extra £300 approximately
An option with the Treadripper CPU and an RTX A5000 would be considerably more expensive (not sure if boss would approve really!), however do you think it's worth spending all that extra money?
It'd be great to hear your suggestios on any of the above parts.
Thanks
