  • GPU rendering oriented build with upgrade potential.

    Hi all,
I am looking for non super expensive GPU rendering workstation with some space for an upgrade in the future.

I did some quick research and this is what I came up with.

CASE: Fractal Design Define 7 XL ATX Full Tower Case
    CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 5950X 3.4 GHz 16-Core Processor
CPU cooler: Noctua NH-D15S chromax.black 82.51 CFM CPU Cooler
    MOBO: ASRock X570 Pro4 ATX AM4 Motherboard
RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX 64 GB (2 x 32 GB) DDR4-3200 CL16 Memory (add another 2x32gb sticks in a future)
DRIVE: Western Digital Black SN850 1 TB M.2-2280 NVME Solid State Drive
PSU: Corsair HX Platinum 1200 W 80+ Platinum Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply

If to believe PCPart picker the configuration above could cost only 2000$.

GPU: In future we would like to get dual rtx 3090 but until then I'd stick to CPU render and RTX 2060SUPER or something basic.

I would appreciate your thoughts on this one.

    Hey Karol,

Build looks good overall, a few comments if you don't mind

-Need a better case with a mesh front for good airflow, the one you chose is not great on airflow. Check out Lian Li or BeQuiet
-NH-D15 is a great cooler, although with 2 GPUs you need a radiator that mounts to the top of the case. An aircooler will produce a lot of hot air inside the case, which is gonna build up and be an issue over time for multiple GPUs. On the other hand, an AIO will push the hot air outside the case. You end up with much cooler/fresh air inside (Depending on the case air flow as well)
-Should buy the RAM now, 4x 32 GB as it might be harder to find the same kit later
-Need a better motherboard for this CPU, check out B550 Tomahawk Max or B550 ROG Strix-E

    Best,
    Muhammed

Agree here. Go for one of those corsair capellix coolers.

Hi Muhammed, I don't mind at all. In fact, I hoped that someone will point out its flaws.

How about Asus Pro WS X570-ACE instead?

        Thanks guys, much appreciated!
