I'm currently testing a workstation from Lenovo with an AMD Ryzen 3995WX PRO, 128 GB RAM and 2 RTX A6000 graphic cards. When rendering a project with both cards, the machine gets pretty loud (with 1 card it's OK). When the CPU is also used to render (plus both cards), it gets unbareably loud. Even too loud to work all day next to it. Does anyone else have any experience with a machine being too loud while under full load (2 or more graphics cards)? Lenovo doesn't seem to want to find a solution for this. With 1 card and CPU rendering, it's not that loud. What kind of cooling can keep a workstation quiet? Thanks.

Hello LeePuznowski
The very loud fans are most likely the GPU fans, they can reach something like 3500 RPM which will be too loud
It is expected that it doesn't get loud with one card or one card + CPU, with one card the temperature is manageable to some extent
On the other hand, rendering on 2 GPUs the top card doesn't have access to cool air anymore. Temperatures will be much higher so you get louder fans
There are quite a few ways you can approach this, one is undervolting the GPUs, they will operate much quieter
A second solution is to have better airflow inside your case, then using fan curves (in Bios or Windows) to control the fans RPM
Let me know if you need more information on these 2 solutions
Best,
Muhammed
