    Hello,
I'm looking for a RTX 3080ti based configuration.
Is this configuration correct for V-Ray use?
    Do you see any inconsistencies?
Do you have any other ideas?
    Thank you very much.

    Hi DCHA34,

This is overall a good build, The only mistake is that you need 4 memory stick for quad channel. Other than that this should work fine

    A few more suggestions,

-Get an AIO cooler (All in one, close loop) for CPU cooling, it does better with multiple GPUs as the radiator gets rid of the hot air outside the case
-This CPU is quite old, a 5950X will be much better in performance and you get a much better platform that support PCIe Gen4 .. if you go for 5950X, the Crosshair Dark Hero X570 is a good match
-The 3080Ti is nearly as expensive as a 3090, if you can find any 3090s with close pricing go for it. You will have access to 24 GB of GPU memory and NVlink support
-There are many better cases around, Check out BeQuiet and Lian Li

If you have more questions let me know

    Best,
    Muhammed

Thank you very much for this clear answer.

An example of an AIO Cooler?

Alpha Cool and Lian Li have some good options
Asus Strix AIO coolers are good as well, best is to mount the radiator at the top and making sure it fits in the case you pick. a 280 or 360 AIO will mostly need a full-tower case, did you pick a case yet?

          Muhammed,

thank you for all these tips.

Concerning the case, I think I'll go for a Be Quiet Silent Base 802 or a Lian Li O11D XL ROG Certified (which is still very expensive).
For the processor I will take an AMD 5950X and an Asus ROG Crosshair VIII Dark Hero X570 motherboard.

If it's not too much to ask, could you advise me on the brand and model of the following components:
          - RTX 2080ti (in case I can't find an RTX 3090)
          - RTX 3090
          - RAM memory (64 GB)
          - AIO Cooler

          Thanks again.

            Hey DCHA34 ,

The Be Quiet Silent Base 802 is a great case, and comes with 3 premium fans(one of those fans is 30 Euros if you buy separately). It is a great value overall and a good choice if you don't like RGB
Lian Li O11D XL ROG is the standard of enthusiast cases, with many great features. If the Be Quiet is a Toyota Corolla, the Lian Li is a Porsche
It is more expensive yes and comes with no fans, you will need to spend money on 6 good fans for this case. The choice is yours

One note is that I used both cases in multiple builds, they are excellent and you will be fine with either of these.

Good choice! I have both in one of my machines here

            - AIO Cooler
Don't buy a 2080ti at the moment, it is slower than most of the Ampere GPUs. If you don't find 3090s or 3080Tis go for 3060 12 GB, it is one good value GPU

About the 3090 models, please check my reply here. I talk in details about the different models

About memory, Get 4x 16GB 3600 CL 16 Gskill TridentZ or Corsair or Team, they are all great
If you need 128 GB of memory go 4x 32 GB 3200 CL17/CL18 , it is normal that the higher capacity sticks are slower

About AIO, check BeQuiet Pure Loop 280 or Corsair 115i Pro 280 or Asus Strix LC 280

            All the best,

              Hey Muhammed,

              it's perfect.

              Concerning the 2080Ti, it's a keyboard error (I already have a 2080Ti), I should have written 3080Ti.

Thanks a lot for your precious help.

You should pin the list of the different PC configurations you use at Chaos in the Hardware section. That would give us an idea of the right hardware to buy.

Thanks again and have a nice day.

I'm glad this is helpful to you DCHA34

We will have a blog post about the hardware choices in the near future, and maybe a small section in the updated GPU documentation
                Have a great day!

                  Hello,
I'm digging up this topic but I finally received my new PC assembled by my supplier.

                  My new PC in brief:
                  - ASUS ROG CROSSHAIR VIII HERO (WIFI)
                  - AMD Ryzen 9 5950X
                  - 128GB RAM
                  - ASUS ROG STRIX RTX 3090 Gaming OC 24G
                  - Samsung SSD 980 PRO 1TO
                  - Samsung SSD 980 PRO 2TO
                  - BE QUIET DARK POWER PRO 12 1200W 80+ TITANIUM

I got an ASUS TURBO-RTX2080Ti-11G from my old PC.

I was planning (see discussion above) to install this RTX 2080Ti in addition to the RTX 3090.
I just opened the case of my new PC, the RTX 3090 is placed on the PCI 1 slot, and it seems compromised to install the RTX 2080Ti in addition.
There is not much space left.

                  Hence my questions:
                  - is this possible or not?
                  - Is it recommended or not?
                  - if it is possible how to install these 2 RTX (slot, electrical connection)?
                  - does anyone have a similar configuration?
                  - are there any tutorials for the installation?

                  Thank you very much.
