  • Laptop for rendering - plausible?

I'm looking into a laptop as a secondary machine, for mobility.
My main concern is around the CPU rendering for hours on end at full load: will the CPU in a "content creator" oriented laptop hold up to this? One would assume such a machine would be engineered with good cooling and airflow, but do the physical limits of the form factor make a laptop a no-go for V-ray?

Google isn't much help; most of the sites are just spammy lists full of keywords.

    Any thoughts or recommendations welcome

It’s plausible for sure, but your results will vary obviously. I have a 2022 Razer Blade 17 with an i9, 64GB DDR5 RAM, and 3080 TI and it scores around 10,000 in the benchmark. So it’s doable. But takes a while. And honestly you may rather use Chaos Cloud. But I can set scenes up on my machine pretty well. It’s more or less my primary scene. But my disclaimer is that I’m primarily an architect and am not an extreme Vray user with insane needs.

There's no issue whatsoever, today's laptops are very powerful, I use all day long.
