  • First test with Vray RT GPU

    I have a scene that works fine with RT set for CPU..

    But for some reason GPU wont work,and i get an error in the server window..I have tested with a fresh scene with a simple cube and have had GPU working..

    I have saved the log file, Also i notice that the GPU version is messing my screen up, could this be a driver issue with an FX 3800 ? i am using 3ds Max 2011 Designs 197.03 which is the one certified...Have no problems with CPU version. error image attached

    For anyone interested in the performance increase for me

    CPU - Boxx Tech Xeon E5520 2.26 (set with 16 v.cores) - 12GB DDR3 Ram and Quad FX 3800.

    Performance increase is approx double CPU stats 512.88 to GPU 1238.00 with a simple Cube.


    I can see that purchasing a few graphics cards will be needed to see the big performance boosts that are shown in the Chaos previews.

    The error code (-5) means the OpenCL driver is running out of GPU resources. Try any of the tips here and see if they help: http://www.spot3d.com/vray/help/rt10...gpu.htm#errors (where is says "Common OpenCL errors").

      Vlado...Eventually got it working..

      Another little problem i think is the workflow i use.. I use Vray Colour Mapping Gamma 2.2 - but use a Max in built Colour Correction on the diffuse channels set to 0.4545...CPU version of RT works fine but GPU version will not show any maps or shader colour at all through using Colour Correction.When i remove the CC its fine..Is this something that can be added or should i find another workflow ?
