Multi/Sub-Object Material instancing (dragging a material already used in a scene to an instance in a new multimat slot) causes the RT GPU window to refresh/update. I think this happens with RT as well.

Yes, the material editor sometimes causes updates even if nothing is changed in the scene; it's somewhat difficult to recognize if there has been an actual change or not. Will see what we can do about it.
