Already done for the next build.

    - ambient occlusion
Which ambient occlusion? In the GI settings?

yes...the same i saw in the Arion demo video
using a material override the image is really flat (in some cases)
      ambient occlusion helps

don't forget two side area lights

      btw,
analyzing some complex scenes with my Quadro CX I can say that you did a GREAT job, many COMPLIMENTS
My Quadro CX is 1,5 year old and has 192 cores and 1,5Gb...it's the only gpu I can use in medium complex scenes
      I tested it in parallel with a Quadro 4600 with only 96 cores (768Mb) and a GTX 260 with 240 cores (1024Mb)
I think that all of us could plug a GTX480 in every farm and use them in DR mode because to build a workstation with 4 GTX480 striped could crash or be instable, except for Tesla certified systems
For fast animation previews RT GPU is incredible...

Vlado, would be great to have turbosmooth rendetime settings work.
I just can't seem to trust myself
So what chance does that leave, for anyone else?

now I can use all my gpus tweaking the gpu texture size value and ray bundle size + rays per pixel parameter in complex scenes

the EVGA precision graphics tuning utility is a precious tool to understand how much the gpu ram is filled

considering I have a total of 528 cores with 3 Nvidia cards I can't immagine what happens if I use the RT GPU final version and almost 4 x 480GTX

and this is only the begin...

Just remember that the memory is NOT shared between the video cards. Think of each Video card as a stand alone computer. That seems to be a big misconception going around the GPU rendering sites.

that's why I want to buy many 460 with 2gigs, they cost 250€ each and with 500€ I get 672 cores and 2Gb of memory space...

With one single GTX 480 I have "only" 480 cores, 1.5Gb and 450€ to pay

one single Tesla C2050 cost 1.800€ and has only 448 cores...

I donno if memory-cores-shaders clocks are important for the rendering. Do I need more cores or more Mhz?

Where do u see 450 for gtx ? They cost bargain 350 lol

Tesla got a lot more MGHZ per core mate... They at 1.150 if im not wrong.. where GTX is at 700-750 / oc 800¬

                  please add:

                  tiling (uv) on-off
I use this method to create a passepartout around a flat panel (pictures) or to apply a decal over an objects. I uncheck tile u and v, resize the texture, and use the colour of the material as background.

Yes, these should be easy, thanks for the pointer.

Wow! That is a great point, I too use that a LOT and it never crossed my mind. Great catch!

when SSS or double side material or translucency?

                        is it possible?

                        Vlado,
speaking about the adaptive displacement or instancing do you think that the OpenCL doesn't support it? is it a limit of gpu architecure? new Nvidia driver/firmware could implement this feature or we need new chips?

                        Best regards.

                          The double-sided material is coming soon;

As for displacement and instancing they are possible certainly - instancing being a lot easier - it is just a matter of time.

                          Best regards,

wow!...this is a good news for me (us)

and in 2011 Kepler gpus will be 2,7 times faster...incredible...the curve is faster than the cpu performance increments...
