  • 3d - stereo with iZ3D

I am trying to use vrayRT with an iZ3D stereo display with a quadro5000, when I select "open GL stereo" mode I get an error "The current display configuration does not support the selected stereo vision mode" ? I an not sure if this is a configuration error or a compatibility problem?

Did you install the nVidia 3D Vision driver? Does the nVidia stereo viewer work properly?

    Best regards,

      Hi Vlado,

The stereoscopic 3D setting in the Nvidia control panel is not enabled, when I try to enable the stereoscopic check box the wizard starts and says that the 3d vision USB driver is not installed. I do not have a 3d vision HUB. I am assuming that since the iZ3d display is a passive polorized display ie. I don't need active shutter glasses to view 3d, that the HUB and active shutter glassed would not be necessary nor would they work with the iz3d display?

If the display is passively polarized then you don't need the OpenGL mode; you need one of the interlaced or checker modes (I could not find the specifications so I'm not sure exactly which one will work).

        Best regards,
        Vlado

I tried interlaced and checker, neither of them work. As I understand it the iZ3D display has two displays one on top of the other.

Hm, ok; then it probably won't work. Is there any technical documentation how to display 3d images on it?

            Best regards,

Hm, no idea then. The driver tells V-Ray that the OpenGL stereo extension is not available, which is why V-Ray displays this message. Does any other stereo program work?

                Best regards,
                Vlado

Is a quadro card required to be able to see the vrayRT active shade window in stereoscopic mode with 3D monitors and glasses such as Samsung 2233 with nvidia 3d vision? i tried enabling the openGL stereo but i alslo got an error message saying the same as the top post "the current display configuration does not support the selected stereo vision mode". I am using a geforce 570 card

Is this OpenGL stereo meant to work with nvidia 3dvision and 3d monitors ?
As far as i know stereoview on 3dvision with 3d monitors only works in fullscreen mode which the active shade window obviously is not.

                  thanks

This seems to be the case, yes.

Yes, this is unfortunately true. Only Quadro cards support windowed quad-buffering (and some AMD cards as well). We tried a dual-monitor setup where only one monitor is switched to stereo mode and it did work to some extent, but was very unstable.

There are also 3d monitors that don't rely on active shutter glasses, but on passive glasses with polarization, which you can use with the interlaced or checker stereo modes.
