does the SLI configuration share the gpu ram?

with 2 GTX 580 I get a total of 3Gb?

do you think that Nvidia can develop a driver to use the ram exclusively for gpu computing (not games)?

Theorically 2nd gpu could use the ram of 1st gpu and viceversa, the ram could be configured parallel or summed...

I hope that Chaos will collaborate with Nvida and Ati to find a solution to use more ram for gpu computing...

Even if it is possible, it would be terribly slow to pass a lot of data between the GPUs. It might be possible for dual cards, but that's something that nVidia/AMD have to consider.
