I made some test of GTX 295 (two-core) and GTX 580. Here is the results in RT GPU:
scene 1 - really simple scene, just ground and few spheres
scene 2 - cornel box scene downloaded somewhere in this forum
scene 3 - interior, hardest scene
GTX 295 (driver 261.00 - this driver and newest makes problem for the two-core graphics board)
scene 1 - about 1400 kpaths/s (GPU usage only 50%)
scene 2 - about 440 kpaths/s (GPU usage only 50%)
scene 3 - about 200 kpaths/s (GPU usage only 50%)
GTX 295 (driver 258.96)
scene 1 - about 3800 kpaths/s (GPU usage 89%)
scene 2 - about 1250 kpaths/s (GPU usage 92%)
scene 3 - about 400 kpaths/s (GPU usage 94%)
GTX 580 (driver 263.09)
scene 1 - about 4400 kpaths/s (GPU usage 91%)
scene 2 - about 2120 kpaths/s (GPU usage 96%)
scene 3 - about 900 kpaths/s (GPU usage 98%)
Its pretty clear more complex scene more GPU usage and more power You get.
GTX 295 (driver 258.96) vs GTX 580
Scene 1 - really simple scene = only 1,15x higher performance.
Scene 2 - cornelbox = 1,7x higher performance.
Scene 3 - interior = 2,25x higher performance.
